In May 2015, Applied Arts Scotland partnered the Scottish Artists Union (SAU) to deliver the workshop ‘Become Financially Efficient: organise your accounts & manage your benefits’ for visual and applied artists.
Whilst we know artists would rather be in the studio being creative than organising their finances, we also know unfortunately accounts cannot be avoided.
With the aim of simplifying and becoming more efficient with your accounts so as to tackle them head on we invited Accountant Tim Alter of Alterledger Ltd and artist Sinéad O’Donnell Dunn to discuss and advise on accounting / finances and benefits respectively.
Tim shared practical tips on organising accounts so as to save money either by doing your own accounts or by reducing the amount of work required by your accountant. In an interactive session, Sinéad shared her knowledge of the implementation of Universal Credit with specific reference to how this will effect creative workers.
Many thanks to Wasps Artists Studios for supporting this event for artists and makers.
