Ciorstaidh Monk


Ciorstaidh Monk is a designer, creative producer and fashion educator from the Outer Hebrides. Her work connects design, making, community building and business development.

In 2020 Ciorstaidh founded Fashion Interrupted, a research platform exploring new ways of working in fashion through immersive collaboration. With a focus on emerging digital technologies such as digital pattern cutting, AR/VR and metaverse environments she launched Layers Unseen, a collaborative digital and augmented reality fashion project showcasing the work of three Scottish designers and four digital producers. Supported by Creative Scotland’s Stay See Share Fund and Scotland Re:Designed, the project premiered at V&A Dundee in November 2021.

A graduate of Intermedia from Edinburgh College of Art, current roles include visiting lecturer in Fashion at Edinburgh College of Art, membership coordinator at Applied Arts Scotland, consultancy and evaluation for arts and cultural projects including Meet, Make, Collaborate
International Residency Programme 2021. Previous roles include: Creative Producer at Fashion Foundry, Scotland’s first national programme for fashion business development; International project partner for British Council’s Nigerian Creative Enterprise Support Programme; and co-founder of SÒLAS, a luxury Scottish sleepwear label.
