I re-trained as a mature student to learn the techniques of jewellery-making, having previously lectured in Art History and Sculpture at ECA. From 2005 I have exhibited professionally as a jewellery designer-maker of one-off pieces. My work uses precious metals, with or without gemstones. I specialise in bold statement pieces and exhibit regularly in commercial galleries.
I like to work in series based around a theme and have made lots of jewellery inspired by different aspects of the sea, from novels and poems I have read to surface patterns of water. However, other sources feed into my work, including images taken from art history, such as portraits of Mary Queen of Scots and Elizabeth I. My current work plays with the idea of Memory of Water.
