I’m an emerging kiln formed glass artist, based in the Scottish Highlands. In 2016 I started to create a studio in Cromarty and now spend my time developing new ideas, some of which evolve into new collections. I draw my inspiration from the extraordinary landscape, its beautiful beaches, running water, stone and my love of plants and trees. The balance of design and texture and the way the light interacts with each element are central to my practice as is the way I bring these elements together into beautiful and desirable objects.
I discovered glass in my forties during a glass taster weekend. I continued to explore my love of glass, attending workshops and masterclasses, taking my learning back into my studio. I’m naturally curious, with each day bringing new discoveries, some of which I develop further and others, by choice, I leave behind.
In 2018 drawing on my learning about the application of glass powders to create a finished form I designed and produced my first collection “Serta” which was well received.
I have continued to develop my ideas and last year I created my first interiors collection “Cromba”. The pieces have a functional edge, that work within interiors and are an inspiration and a delight to the beholder. My work is increasingly in demand from galleries both in Scotland and south of the border and with the increased exposure I am increasingly being commissioned by clients to design one off pieces alongside my evolving teaching practice.
