I am a textile practitioner based in the North East of Scotland. My main focus is on printed and slow textiles, and print design. My practice combines analogue mixed media mark making, mono printing, screen-printed textiles, eco-print and natural dyes and hand stitch to create stand-alone items or to influence, or be re-created as short run, small batch ethically produced, digital print designs.
My work is strongly influenced by locality - using the colours and interpreting the textures I see around me in the natural environment of Scotland; work inspired by my formative memories growing up in the natural spaces of Aberdeenshire. I take the colour combinations and simple, often overlooked features, and distil these elements to form my own textile designs. I enjoy a connection with the landscape, myself and my practice away from the distractions of urban life. My work aims to express a sense of place, replicating a connection to landscape, and benefitting wellbeing.
I facilitate workshops and learning experiences both online and in person, in a range of slow textile crafts, again using connection and craft to increase the wellbeing of participants.
