Kirsty Dalton

My name is Kirsty Dalton I was born and raised in Perth Scotland currently living in Edinburgh and have been working as a craft person since 2015. I am the owner and creator of Primitive Woodland Line. A craft line that focuses on the medium of wood. My work is sold in a variety of shops and galleries all over Scotland. I have continued to trade and grow my small business online via Etsy. The wood I use is sourced locally in Scotland and the I primarily use Sycamore; its natural light and blond appearance accentuate the burnt in-detail. Utilising traditional methods of woodturning and hand carving, my approach is purely instinctive; inspired by nature, with a focus on bold shapes merged with intricate detail.

After graduating with an honour’s degree in Fine Art at Duncan of Jordanstone, I went on to complete an internship with Dundee Art Collective Tin Roof resulting in my first solo show. I have since gone on to work on community-based projects such as the Dundee Mini Make off and was a project coordinator for SAMH Skulls charity project in 2019. I have also worked internationally as an intern in Vietnam at Vin Space Art studios, running their PR accounts and teaching art classes. This year I have taken part in Conkers Live run by Chestnut Products – doing live stream demonstration of woodwork, pyrography and a range of colourful wood finishes viewed by Global audience.
