I create lasting quality hand tufted wool pile textiles as artful, practical furnishings for walls, floors and upholstery. I like the idea of my work inviting connection with true nature in a deeper way by inviting people to relax, reflect, rejuvenate through use of mindfulness/ meditation mats, stools and art rugs. My palette of wool, presently, is up-cycled and repurposed from carpet industry surplus enabling the wide range of colour I like, until I can source 100% British wool, affordably, in the smaller amounts I require. Recently I am experimenting with hand dyeing the tufted wool pile textile. I use photography, drawing, painting, digital art, memory, fantasy, dreams to capture ideas and create visual work to translate into textile. Sharing appreciation of our world is the object of my work and long standing interest in health/mental health, consciousness, archetype. One of my influences is the work of Friedensreich Hundertwasser, painter, architect, ecological activist and philosopher. Ultimately, I hope to increase awareness, insight, connections and relationship with our natural world and laws of earth, in a holistic sense, towards sustainability, wellbeing and informed respect for all life
