As an Artist and Jeweller my research practice involves how human engagement impacts on of the everyday urban landscape through our emotions, and our memories. By using a variety of handmade drawing tools and industrial enamel I explore a wide range of expressive and physical mark making which is both spontaneous and contemplative, creating surfaces which are unique leading to the creation of wearable objects. As an artist/researcher and through my Social Engaged Practice I produced a variety of contemporary jewellery craft projects which ensure that the act of making contributes to urban regeneration and improves the health and well-being of individuals and our communities. I have exhibited internationally including the Hong Kong Design Centre, BUDA contemporary Jewellery Melbourne Australia and locally in Scotland at the Open Eye Gallery, Visual Arts Scotland, and Craft Scotland. I am a founding member of Element47, a local jewellery design collective and the Hinterland Collective, an emerging international platform for contemporary art jewellers. As a design educator I am the Director at SilverHub Jewellery School which is a centre of excellence for jewellery design, were I teach traditional silversmithing jewellery skills, contemporary approaches to enamelling and mentor aspiring jewellery designers.
