  • Applied Arts Scotland SCIO (AAS) is a maker led charitable membership organisation run by makers for makers giving an authentic, collective and professional voice for the sector and delivering tangible benefits. We nurture the creative heart and soul of making practice.

    There are three types of membership, Professional, Associate and International, you can find details on How to Join & Benefits.

    An annual membership fee of £25 for Professional and Associate Membership (Organisations) and £15 for Associate Membership (Individuals) goes towards our administrative costs and enables the organisation to support the maker community. International Membership is free.

    You are eligible to apply for Professional Membership if you are a maker predominantly working in Scotland and can meet a minimum of TWO of the membership criteria.

    You are eligible to apply for Associate Membership if you are a student, at the beginning of your career as a maker, a curator, writer/journalist, gallery owner, retailer, lecturer, educator, or are working in an organisation supporting the making community in Scotland, and can meet ONE of the membership criteria.

    You are eligible to apply for International Membership if you live outside Scotland and are a maker or organisation that has been involved in an AAS International project.

    All membership applications are reviewed for approval by the Applied Arts Scotland Board who are all professional makers and decisions are based on their experience and perceived fit of work to the criteria. At the time of applying for Professional or Associate Membership you will be asked to set up a standing order for your Membership Fee on PayPal. Should your application be unsuccessful the fees will be refunded. The Board aim to consider all membership applications within 4-6 weeks of receipt. You will receive an email confirming if your AAS membership application has been approved.

    If accepted as a Professional or Associate Member your membership will renew automatically each year unless you cancel it or contact us stating you no longer wish to be a Member.

  • By applying to become an Applied Arts Scotland member you agree to all information, including personal information, provided on your membership application form being shared with the Applied Arts Scotland Board who will review your application for membership. Your information will be kept secure and confidential at all times.

  • By applying to become an Applied Arts Scotland member, if your application is successful you agree to:
    • Applied Arts Scotland holding and processing your information, including personal information and the date you registered and ceased to be a member of Applied Arts Scotland on the AAS Members Register for at least six years from the date you ceased to be a member, for the purpose of communicating Membership matters, updates, news and opportunities with you. We may use Mailchimp, a trusted third party processor, to do this.
    • Log in to your Applied Arts Scotland membership account and manage the information on your membership profile visible to other Applied Arts Scotland's Members.
    • Read and uphold Applied Arts Scotland's charitable purposes as per its Constitution and:
    a. as required by law, to Applied Arts Scotland sharing your name, address and the date you registered and ceased to be a member of Applied Arts Scotland, as detailed on your membership application and held on the AAS Members Register with OSCR (Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator) when requested.
    b. to Applied Arts Scotland sharing your name only, as provided on your membership application form and held on the AAS Members Register, with other Applied Arts Scotland members, if requested and the request is reasonable.
    • Set up an annual standing order for my Membership Fee with Paypal and understand Applied Arts Scotland will use PayPal to manage payment of my membership fee.

  • By applying to become an Applied Arts Scotland member, if your application is unsuccessful, you agree to Applied Arts Scotland deleting your membership application and all the personal information it contains.

  • Our e-Newsletter contains news about Applied Arts Scotland and other craft opportunities, events, news, etc. we believe is of relevance to you. If you are not already signed up for our e-Newsletter and would like to regularly receive it, please check the box below.
