Description

This vessel was crafted by assembling and attaching multiple parts which were thrown on the potter’s wheel then altered. The clay body is a blend of Iron rich clays, with heavily grogged black clay abundant with Manganese used to hand build organic protrusions. The glazes dripping from the spout of the vessel contain a range of ash, iron and titanium ores. Fired in a wood-fed kiln over many hours, the surface has a lustrous sheen where it has been eaten into and coated by the addition of salt to the kiln, which follows the path of the flame over the pots. ‘Arteria’ draws inspiration from the multi-spouted vessels of Peru often used as grave offerings.

Once the item is purchased the maker will be in touch to arrange delivery of the item if it cannot be collected at Custom Lane on Sunday 11th June between 12pm-4pm.
