Description

The pieces in this collection arose from a residency with Cromarty Arts Trust; handmade with blackened gilding metal and silver, the pattern is based on the gently over-lapping waves of the sea in Cromarty Firth. The patina creates bright flashes of contrasting silver against the matte black, with touches of turquoise reminiscent of the light catching the waves.

Drawing is a vital part of my process, using mark-making to develop abstract impressions from the coastal landscape. My jewellery evolves from the drawn-line, creating tactile pieces varying with each iteration, expressing the shifting nature of my subject.
Encounters with the Scottish Coastline are a sustained source of interest; a theme I have continually developed since graduating from GSA’s ‘Jewellery and Silversmithing’ course in 2018. I now make work in Glasgow using a material palette based on these coastal-finds.

Once the item is purchased the maker will be in touch to arrange delivery of the item if it cannot be collected at Custom Lane on Sunday 11th June between 12pm-4pm.
