Description

The Fragments Cuff is handcrafted from recycled sterling silver and 24ct gold foil. This cuff was created through experimenting with shapes and different compositions to find the perfect arrangement and layering between pushed shapes and gold elements. Inspiration is drawn from my own memories, photographs and moments then abstracted into forms and elements to create compositions. Typically being drawn to bold striking shapes found in architecture and intricate organic details found in nature, I combine these opposing elements to create balanced objects. Here a high-pressure embossing technique is used in an unusual way to create surface patterns and textures that appear soft and enticing. This encourages engagement and conversation, creating a tactile and curious experience. The ancient technique of Keum Bu has been a welcomed addition to my practice– a subtle nod to the narrative of the materialisation of memory.
