Description

Keepers of the Soil is a wearable artwork and participatory project embroidered by dozens of people in celebration of our relationship with soil. It is a physical representation of the interconnectedness of all living beings on Earth, 95% of which rely on soil for their existence.
Fabricated from vintage woollen blankets, and dyed using plants, the detailed stitching represents the wide diversity of life found within and upon soil. This ceremonial garment has been exhibited as an object in its own right and in a photographic series, to celebrate sensitive attitudes towards soil.
It is also used in group walks and events, such as foraging, and mindful walks to highlight the issues surrounding this vital and underestimated substance.

The framed prints shown in the exhibition are not for sale. Limited edition unframed prints are for sale.

Once the item is purchased the maker will be in touch to arrange delivery of the item if it cannot be collected at Custom Lane on Sunday 11th June between 12pm-4pm.
