The Box of Colours – a Cabinet of Curiosity

Description

The Box of Colour is a Cabinet of curiosity exploring the colour potential of the gardens where I study and work. As a sustainable eco artist, my aim is to limit my carbon foot print by using local resources, those that can be spared by the eco-system around me to create the colours I use to print and dye. In this cabinet of curiosity I have collected seeds, and leaves, wood sticks and bits of metal that I will make into dyes and fix on my fibre. I have transformed some into colourful pigments powders, precious bottles showing time and place.
This “cabinet of curiosity” is made of a wooden tray recycled from the printing industry featuring in each of it’s small sections natural element I have gathered in the last 12 months. Seeds, pods, dry wood stick, rusty metal, and small glass bottles of the material I have processed to become watercolour.
My daily life as an eco artist consist in connecting people with nature through natural colours either I forage them or I grow them.
