Crafting Futures Pinguli Puppets

Applied Arts Scotland (AAS) is partnering with Culture Aangan based in Mumbai, India, to deliver a British Council Crafting Futures project to a puppet making community in the village of Pinguli, located in the south of Maharashtra.

The 18 participating artisans have diverse skill-sets, but collectively they are looking to develop their product range, and improve their marketing skills. To support development, we are using exercises from the Craft Toolkit in the training modules we are delivering, alongside existing AAS films and content.

Originally starting in February 2020, the project has been impacted by Covid-19, with scoping and delivery of the project now being done through digital platforms. The project will run until April 2021.
