Blessed Unrest & Ink on Mesh
INK on MESH is a new welcoming space for all, based in Newhaven Edinburgh. Providing affordable communal studio space for the local intergenerational community, artists, makers, graduates and hobbyists to meet, learn, explore and connect through the craft of screen printing and textiles. The Ink on Mesh community will have access to a fully equipped studio space, a wide range of classes and expert technical support. It will provide a learning environment that nurtures creativity at any age, stage and ability and offers one off experiences, progression routes and professional development in screen printing, textile dying, machine and hand stitched textiles.
Free access spaces will be offered each term with the intention of making these valued craft skills accessible to all with barriers to creative education.

Through my own craft of screen printing I find that I become lost in the momentum and repetitive nature of the physical technique. When I’m absorbed in the design process all other roles and responsibilities drift away, the past and future disappear and the present moment is clearly experienced… Here, is my happy place. This is just one of the elements of my craft that I hope to share with others that attend my studio courses. I see people attending the print classes I offer exploring their own ideas, becoming more confident with their desition making, expressing their personalities, sharing their techniques with the group, connecting with others attending, losing their fear of failure while making interesting, beautiful and unique prints.
การทำงานฝีมือพิมพ์สกรีน ฉันพบว่าตัวเองหลงใหลในลักษณะงานนี้ที่ต้องทำซ้ำๆ เมื่อฉันหมกมุ่นอยู่กับกระบวนการออกแบบ ก็พบว่าบทบาทอื่นๆในชีวิต และความรับผิดชอบต่างๆ ทั้งหมดก็ค่อยๆ หายไป อดีตและอนาคตก็หายไป และทำให้ช่วงเวลาปัจจุบันชัดเจนขึ้น เป็นสถานที่ที่ฉันมีความสุข สิ่งนี้เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของงานฝีมือที่ฉันอยากจะแบ่งปันให้กับคนอื่นๆที่เข้ามาเรียนในสตูดิโอ เมื่อฉันมองเห็นคนที่เข้ามาเรียนในชั้นเรียนได้ค้นพบไอเดียของตัวเอง มีความมั่นใจกับการตัดสินใจของตัวเองมากขึ้น แสดงออกถึงบุคลิกตัวตน แบ่งปันเทคนิคต่างๆกับคนอื่นๆในกลุ่ม มีการติดต่อสื่อสารกับผู้ร่วมเรียน สลายความกลัวการล้มเหลวเมื่อได้ทำงานฝีมือที่สวยงามและน่าสนใจ

เกเด๊อะ/ Ge-dor
ฉันเกิดและเติมโตในครอบครัวชุมชนชาวปกากะญอ วัฒนธรรมของเรามีความเป็นมาและอยู่อาศัยร่วมกันกับธรรมชาติอย่างกลมกลืน บนฐานปรัชญาความเชื่อของชาวปกากะญอ เรามีบทเพลง เรามีความเชื่อและพิธีกรรมที่เชื่อมโยงเราให้เป็นหนึ่งเดียวกับธรรมชาติและรักธรรมชาติที่อยู่รอบตัวเรา และฉันเห็นว่าสิ่งเหล่านี้เป็นสิ่งที่สำคัญต่อมนุษย์
หลายๆครั้งเราได้เห็นภาพของคนนอกชุมชนที่สนใจสิ่งที่เรามี ในขณะที่เราเองก็ปฎิเสธไม่ได้ว่า ไฟฟ้า เทคโนโลยี และระบบการศึกษา ก็เป็นสิ่งที่สร้างให้เกิดการเปลี่ยนแปลงต่อวิถีชีวิตของเราในปัจจุบัน เด็กๆถูกส่งออกไปเรียนนอกหมู่บ้านตั้งแต่ชั้นอนุบาล ทำให้เกิดช่องว่างของการเรียนรู้วิถีชุมชนของตนเอง
เก เด๊อะ แปลว่า กลับบ้าน เป็นโครงการเชื่อมสัมพันธ์ระหว่างเด็กที่กลับจากโรงเรียนประจำในช่วงปิดเทอม กับผู้คนในชุมชน เราหวังว่า กิจกรรมศิลปสร้างสรรค์ในพื้นที่ชุมชนบ้านเกิด และเรียนรู้จักตนเอง ผ่านกิจกกรมศิลปสร้างสรรค์ที่เราร่วมออกแบบกับทีมนักกิจกรรมที่เข้ามาร่วมงานกับเราในแต่ละครั้ง เกเด๊อะ จึงเป็นอีกหนึ่งโครงการที่ฉันได้มีโอกาสแบ่งปัน พื้นที่การเรียนรู้ อบรมย้อมสีธรรมชาติให้เด็กและเยาวชน
I was born and raised in a Pakeryaw family. Our culture has a history and lives in harmony with nature. Based on the Pakeryaw philosophy, we have songs, beliefs and rituals that connect us to be one with nature and to love the nature around us.
Many times that people outside the community are interested in what we have. While we can’t deny that electricity, technology and education systems are something that has created a change in the way we live today.
Children were sent to study outside the village since kindergarten, causing gaps in learning the way of their own community Ke Der the means “return home”. It is a project to connect between children who return from boarding school during the semester break with people in the community about community compound and themselves through creative arts.
We co-design the activities with a team of activists. Ke Der is another project that I have the opportunity to share the joy of creating a learning space trough natural dyes workshop for children and youth in my community.

I’m happy with natural dying craft. Every time making it, we‘re full of excitement that what is the result at the end. It is a new feeling throughout the process. In addition, when I hold activities with children I also feel that the children have a special experience through the activities as well.

Craft is magical, it lets me connect with my ancestors and learn about other lives in other countries. I am happiest when in the company of a sheep’s fleece and a spinning wheel, it doesn’t help me solve the worlds’ problems but it gives me a moment of peace while I think about them!
