Altermatter Workshop Participant Call Out

Join us and take part in our alternative material focus programme: Altermatter.

Altermatter is an online material-centred collaborative design project bringing together makers and designers from Indonesia and the UK to explore the practical use of new materials. We are inviting applications from makers and designer who have some experience and an interest in exploring new ways of working with sustainable materials.

Selected material developers/designers/makers and product designers will work in pairs as a team to brainstorm the challenges and solutions of creating a daily use product made of alternative materials and showcase their ideas as a final outcome.

Requirements:

Material Developers:
• Emerging material developer: 2 – 3 years of experience OR student level material developer
• Aware of Design Thinking Process
• English proficiency is favourable
• Location: Indonesia and UK
Material developer can also include designer or maker with experience working in alternative and sustainable materials.

Product Designers:
• Emerging with 2 – 3 years working experience after university OR Industry level designers
• Skill in 3D modeling tools
• Aware of Design Thinking process
• English proficiency is favourable
• Location: Indonesia and UK

Expectation:

• Willing to be paired with cross countries (UK-IDN) using online communication tools.
• Able to collaboratively develop product concepts that solve daily problems.
• Able to collaboratively develop product concepts using alternative materials.
• Committed to involvement in the program to completion.
• Open to communicating with mentors and collaborators outside of workshop hours

Timeline of Workshop: February – March 2022 (workshops will be held on 4 Thursdays over this time scale)

Fee for participants: £500
