Bio

Yellow Broom is made up of two Edinburgh College of Art Sculpture graduates, David Robson and Clare Waddle.
After working for many years in the visual art sector, from a makers perspective we both independently concluded that we were very keen to explore our common interests in the professional Craft and Design market; in particular the creation of high quality design led lighting.

A few years ago, we worked on our first collaboration, subsequently we went on to create Yellow Broom and our first YB product, YB8, an overhead light that is steam bent by hand in Ash. YB8 fast become our most stable and signature product.

Each one of our products are co designed and crafted by hand in the Scottish Highlands using woods from sustainable sources; our aim is to create items that are both utilitarian, well crafted, functional and aesthetically pleasing.

We have a series of high profile exhibitions behind us including working with Craft Scotland and emergents makers representing Scottish Craft at London Design festival, Design March in Iceland and Expo North for two consecutive years. We were selected to represent Highlands and islands as part of the SHIFT project in a year long creative exchange in Reykjavik.

We have also been involved in many exhibitions and private commissions being particularly active with Craft Design House in Edinburgh.

We have just been awarded the Inches Carr Trust award to develop our practice to a higher level .
